He designs spaces that dig through the user’s past and his/her emotional needs while the understanding of that our memories are the most important factor in the process of forming our visual preferences. He interprets the user’s past bridging it through the familiarity of contemporary architecture to trigger our emotions. He designs that evokes memories through the balance of matching color palettes and sophistication of shapes: swooping arches, circles and smoothened corners. Thus, creating momentarily glimpses of the past while creating memorable spaces that you want to share with others.
“Utkan Gunerkan imagines a vivid universe in which thoughtful use of color sparks ecstasy, curiosity, and every emotion in between. Though most of his projects are conceptual, the fresh-faced Turkish architect shows a promising command of how radiant color uplifts the human psyche, devising optimistic, dream-like environments that glisten with energy and enthusiasm.“ -SURFACE
